Areas of Practice:
Chris provides practices in the areas of corporate and business law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures, pension and benefits law, insurance law, social security law, employment law, intellectual property law, sports law, planning law, procurement law,
constitutional law and administrative law. Aside from appearing in the High Court, Chris has also appeared in the Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court. Chris is a licensed insolvency practitioner and accepts appointments by the Master in both deceased and insolvent estates / companies in the Western Cape. Chris consults in preparing wills and trusts, overall financial and estate planning, estate administration and dispute resolution, including insurance benefit and other recoveries. He provides opinions on various estate and estate planning issues including international estate matters.

Other Activities and Interests:
Chris lectured part-time at Varsity College on taxation and deceased and insolvent estates for the Unisa B.Compt degree and on advanced labour law and advanced company law for final year students reading for the Unisa LLB degree. Chris also lectured on the law module
for the Diploma in Sports Law. Chris was past Convener of the Assistance Business Standing Committee of the Life Offices Association. He is on the Master of the High Court’s panel of liquidators for the Western Cape, a member of the Association of Insolvency Practitioners of Southern Africa, an associate of the Association of Arbitrators of Southern Africa and a member of the Pension Lawyers Association. He is a director of the Soma Initiative (Pty) Ltd, Origin Family-Centered Maternity Hospital (Pty) Ltd and the Institute for Accountability in Southern Africa (campaigning as Accountability Now). Chris holds the rank of nidan (2nd degree black belt) in karate and has represented South Africa on two occasions, in 2004 and 2006.

B Com; B Proc; LLB; LLM; MBA, as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Taxation; Diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice; Certificate in Advanced Insolvency Law and Practice; Certificate in Administration of Estates; Certificate in Pension Funds Law; Certificate in Advanced Corporate and Securities Law; Certificate in Sports Law; Certificate in Intellectual Property Law; Certificate in Advanced Taxpayers Rights and a Certificate in Medical Law (Medical Malpractice). Chris was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa in April 2007.
