Dershnee is an Occupational Therapist who has 20 years of clinical experience with a special interest in chronic pain. She has completed a master’s degree in the field of HIV and chronic pain. She has worked in both the public and private sectors including lecturing at the University of Witwatersrand. She has published two papers in academic journals. She has served as the secretary of PainSA and is currently a council member. She is also the current South African delegate to the International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy representing the South African Society of Hand Therapists. She has completed her Certificate in Pain Management through Train Pain. She is currently involved in case management and vocational rehabilitation of long term disability claimants.
